High intensity interval training (HIIT) combined with strength training is a very effective way to build lean muscle and burn fat! Full body workouts consisting of resistance training with core and cardio (HIIT) integrated in. The workouts are challenging and can be scaled for beginners or advanced!
Training is designed for athletes (all ages and levels) looking to improve their speed, agility, quickness and strength for any sport!
Athletes will learn proper running mechanics as well as proper strength training technique.
The focus of this program is on building strength and prepping lifters (beginners or advanced) for the sport of powerlifting. Lifters will learn proper technique and variations of the squat, bench press, deadlift and other assistance movements. Each lifter will have a periodized training program that is designed to help him or her reach their goals and hit their best lifts in competition!
Steve Melero has over 16 years of experience working in the fitness and sports performance industry. He uses strength training as a foundation to help fitness clients and athletes reach their goals. Steve has earned a bachelors degree in
Exercise Science with an emphasis in Human Performance from California Lutheran University. He is a Certified Powerlifting Coach Practitioner through the United States Powerlifting Association, a Performance Enhancement Specialist through the National Academy of Sports Medicine and has also received a certification through the Parisi Speed School.
Over the years Steve has excelled in many sports. He received the MVP award for track and field at Dos Pueblos High school, “Best Receiver” award for football at Santa Barbara City College and continued playing football while attending California Lutheran University. Currently Steve Melero is a competitive powerlifter who holds state and national records. He took first place at the 2012 IPL World Powerlifting Championships for the 181-pound Raw Open Division through the USPA/IPL.
Steve’s believes in consistent hard work and that there are no shortcuts when it comes to health/fitness and strength. However, there is an optimal way to train to reach your goals. He takes pride in staying up to date by researching the most current science behind training to continue learning/growing. Steve applies what he has learned through his education and experience to create an optimal training program with Team Breakthru inside of Athletix.
Steve has worked with many people from youth athletes to fitness clients in their 80’s. He has also worked with many teams to improve strength and conditioning such as Oaks Christian Baseball, Calabasas High School Soccer, Santa Barbara City College Football and many youth sports teams. He was the Head Trainer for the Parisi Speed School for over two years before he started Team Breakthru in 2008. Steve not only enjoys working with athletes but also fitness clients through creating fun and effective workouts and a high-energy bootcamp! He also offers coaching and programming for powerlifters. Steve’s passion for fitness and sports performance training allows him to help clients reach their goals.
